Who Are Best Available?

The bucs addressed the secondary with Vernon Hargreaves in the first round as well as picking up an additional 4th rounder in the process yet still haven't addressed the lack of pass rush they so badly need. So who else is left to help cure this problem?

A couple names to keep yours eyes on are Noah Spence, Kevin Dodd, Emmanuel Ogbah, Jonathan Bullard and Shillique Calhoun. All could be options for the bucs at the top of the 2nd round and are answers to help fix the pass rush woes. Not only should the bucs look at D-line help as there are highly rated Myles Jack has fallen into the 2nd round due to injury concerns. Jack could have easily been rated the best defensive player in this draft if it weren't for his injured knee and I wouldn't be shocked to see Licht look deeper into his medical check up to see if he is worth the risk at 39.

Don't be surprised to see the bucs address the safety and wide receiver positions as well if the talent warrants the pick as there are still viable options still left on the board.

Bucs looking at Emmanuel Ogbah

The Bucs search for pass rush continues as former Oklahoma State edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah states the Bucs are taking a peek at him, Per Profootballtalk.com

He said the best advice he’s gotten is to know when to say no. Fortunately he didn’t say no giving us a few minutes of his time.
During those few minutes of his, Ogbah said he has visits lined up with the Bears and Buccaneers.

Ogbah has the measurable's standing 6'4 273 with a 4.63 forty and was super productive in college as well with 26.5 sacks in 3 years. What's confusing is that Ogbah didn't display that speed in game tape. Here at realbucstalk.com we aren't big fans of Mr. Ogbah's show on the field as he doesn't have many pass rush moves and often gets lost during plays. I view this as the Bucs not leaving any stone unturned and making sure that they don't over look talent. Also with having such a great D-line coach in Jay Hayes, maybe he sees something in Ogbah that he can bring out as he did with Carlos Dunlap and Bucs favorite defensive end (pure sarcasm) Michael Johnson. As of right now Ogbah should be looked at as a 2nd round talent, nothing more.

The Mystery of Emmanuel Ogabah

Emmanuel Ogabah was the hot name among Bucs fans in January as many were pegging him to be taken by the Bucs at 9th overall. I was not one of them because his game tape was like riding a roller coaster, just too up and down to be a first round guy, let alone top ten. Then this past Sunday, Ogabah put up a 4.63 40 along with 35.5 inch vertical, he displayed athleticism that wasn't shown on tape at all, and makes you want to watch the tape again.

Ogabah had pretty good production in his three years at Oklahoma State, where he had 28 sacks to go along with 40 tackles for loss. That is quality production, but watching the film up close shows just too much inconsistency and he disappears at times during key moments. Ogabah is slow off the ball, has no play awareness looking lost at times, and takes too many plays off for my liking. He plays with one speed showing no speed to power conversion in his pass rush moves, which unable him to burn the edges with quickness. NFL.com had a area scout provide their opinion on Ogabah and it is spot on.

"He's stiff and upright so he has no counters as a rusher and then he doesn't even play hard all the time. If you are going to be the hulk, then play hard all the time." ­-- NFC area scout

Overall Ogabah will be taken somewhere in the second round purely on his production and his size as a defensive end. He is definitely a better fit in a 3-4 scheme as stand up hybrid type then as a base end in a 4-3. It will be interesting to see how he does throughout the draft process, he will need to impress in the interviews and hope some team falls in love with him to go first round. Right now though Ogabah would be a decent second round pick, but needs massive improvement with his technique and motor.
