Lamar Miller Buzz

The longer the Doug Martin waits to sign back or test free agency the more rumors and buzz come out about other running backs that the bucs may be interested in. Latest name to pop up is Lamar Miller of the Miami Dolphins. Miller is 5'10 225 yet doesn't look it, as he has a slender frame. Yes, Miller is quick and can catch the ball out of the backfield but we have that already with Charles Sims.

The best quality of Miller is his age as he is still only 24 and has been pretty much injury free his entire 4 year career. He topped the thousand yard mark once in 2014 and has been just par ever since. It could have been from sub-par O-line play but is Lamar Miller really an answer to go to if Doug Martin does choose to test free agency?

If Martin does decide to leave and though I doubt he does, I would suggest the Bucs stay true to the guy they drafted and give Sims his shot. Sims totaled over a thousand yards rushing and receiving last year and looks as if he will only grow more in new head coach Dirk Koetter's offense. Running back is no longer a highly coveted position now a days and highly skilled backs are falling farther and farther in the draft as Lamar Miller himself was a 4th round selection. The rumors will continue to fly in as long as Martin is still in limbo with his decision. As far as Miller is concerned, I would shy away.

Will Janoris Jenkins Come Back Home?

Lets face it the Bucs defense needs more talent in all three position groups, and I believe Rams cornerback unrestricted free agent Janoris Jenkins would be a good start to the offseason. If the Bucs could add Jenkins to the secondary group that would be a vast improvement and provide a guy that is one of the top man to man corners in the league. Jenkins had 15 pass breakups to go along with 3ints, but most importantly 64 tackles which means he is aggressive against the run providing physical play. Jenkins,27 has good size at 5-11 200lbs as he and Trumaine Johnson were one of the better cornerback duos in the NFL this past season.

Jenkins, who is a former Florida Gator, would probably welcome the opportunity to come back home and play in Florida where there is no state income tax by the way. Jenkins would be a good fit in Mike Smith's scheme which would allow Jenkins to play a lot of press man coverage which is his strength. Paring Jenkins with Sterling Moore and Jonathan Banks would help the secondary improve quite a bit and potentially making the group a strength for 2016.  Jenkins will probably ask for 6 or 7 million annually which is understandable for his ability, the good news is the Bucs have plenty of cap space so might as well use it.

Buccaneer Shine in Pro Bowl

If anyone decided to watch the whole Pro Bowl on Sunday you would have been proud of your Buccaneers. The Pro Bowl these days is nothing but an offensive show so not much was shown from Gerald McCoy or Lavonte David. Yet Winston on Team Irvin completed 6 of 12 passes for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns. Doug Martin Lead Team Rice with 20 yards rushing and the only rushing touchdown of the game. Your young Buccaneers were on full display and there will be more and more to come. Now lets get Doug signed up and get read for free agency!

In case you missed it here is a beautiful pass from Winston.

Bucs Could Use A Freak at DE

His name is Bruce Irvin, who plays for the Seahawks and is just a freak of nature. A guy like Irvin could come in right away and play hybrid end/linebacker being that speed rusher we need.
