Dan Vitale Question Marks?

The Bucs did have a need for a Fullback and they addressed that with taking Vitale in the 6th round but is he the traditional FB the Bucs need? Vitale's position in college was labeled "super back", meaning he played all over the offense. This can be a positive because he has knowledge of playing multiple position and has receiving skills at a FB as well, but does he have the most crucial ability every FB needs?

While watching Vitale's tape he didn't show many aggressive blocks. He tends to dive at defenders legs to prevent them from making plays instead of using his size and strength to drive them out of the play. Coaching can help out with that but installing a hard nosed attitude to destroy the man in front of you isn't so simple. Vitale has many special gifts as an athlete and will be given every chance to become the Bucs starting FB but for me to feel confident about him blocking for Martin and Sims, he's going to have to show a lot more than what he has. Koetter may have plans to use him in different ways as he was in college and really make him a weapon but lets see him master the basics of his position first.
