Details!

No Tampa, Greg Schiano is not back in town but QB coach Mike Bajakian and Jameis are focusing on the details of the position. Winston came in as a rookie and showed he is more than capable to take over a team and win games, now he is mastering the little things of the position. Mike Bajakian gave a little insight to what he a Jameis have been up to over the offseason.
Now were at a point where he's proficient enough in the offense that we can focus even more on the details of his technique. So everything form his footwork, release, to again accuracy, little things like that are things we emphasized, moving in the pocket. All those little details that go into the playing the position are now a matter of attention for us and he's done a good job of focusing on.
Mastering the little things are what make good players great. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are perfect examples of this. They weren't superior athletes or geniuses they just mastered all the little things that they could control. The footwork, the release, the timing on routes, being a leader. All these little traits make a player great. Ever since Winston has become a Buc he has done nothing but keep his nose clean and in the books. Coaches and players alike all rave about how much of a competitor and student of the game Winston is and those are the qualities you want in your franchise quarterback.

Better Playing Shape Should Help Jameis

Jameis Winston had a pretty good start to his career in which he was pretty much rookie of the year and the main reason the Bucs won 4 more games in 2015. Winston got the opportunity to go to the pro bowl in which he got to see how some of the elite quarterbacks go about being the best. One thing he picked up on is he needs to be in better playing shape if he wants to be one of the elite guys. So he wasted no time and has been working out non-stop including having workout sessions with Tim Grover who has trained guys like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. With Winston now being in the best shape of his playing career, Qb coach Mike Bajakian thinks this will allow Jameis to focus more on his technique and be able to be more consistent throughout the season per Tampabay.com.

"A couple things, number one, everything in this league is about durability and being able to play as many snaps as possible,'' Bajakian said. "Last year, we were fortunate that he was able to take every snap. But by being in better physical shape, there's a better chance of lasting the season and avoiding injury.
"Number two, when you're more physically fit, fatigue doesn't become as much of an issue. In the quarterback position in particular, that's not always the case as much as it is with receivers and defensive backs or offensive linemen. But still, being in better physical shape can allow him to maintain a better base, play with lower hips and better feet and just allow him to focus on the details of his technique.''

This should allow Jameis to improve on his foot work and become more in-tune with throwing mechanics. In other words, this will mean better consistency with his accuracy which is the most critical attribute for a quarterback. Jameis is committed to being the best and now with his body right, he should just keep improving which is scary since he was pretty dam good last year.

Bucs Sign Dan LeFevour

Bucs have officially signed QB Dan LeFevour, former Central Michigan standout who has recently been in the Canadian Football league the past 4 years. LeFevour has a history with both head coach Dirk Koetter in 2011, when Koetter was offensive coordinator of the Jaguars and from 2007-2009 with QB coach Mike Bajakian as he was the offensive quality control coach for Central Michigan during LeFevour's tenure.

Its safe to say they have a good knowledge of the type of player and teammate LeFevour is and what he can bring to the team. LeFevour, even though an outstanding college QB hasn't proven anything in the NFL or the Canadian Football league for that matter but questions will rise of why the addition of another QB? Is Glennon on the move or are the Bucs just getting more bodies for camp? Everything is exciting now as the draft gets closer and closer.

Getting Better Everyday

Jameis Winston spoke earlier this week and gave a little insight to his offseason. Per buccaneers.com
“My main goal is just to get better every single day, so whatever (Quarterbacks) Coach (Mike) Bajakian (says). Coach Bajakian gave me a list of things to get better on, I looked at those things and I just try to improve on them every day I can.”
Jameis just wants to get better day by day. The most simple idea that less successful people forget. What did the list say that QB coach Mike Bajakian? Keep the turnovers down? Protect yourself? Don't stare down your primary receiver? Whatever it was I believe Jameis took it to heart and put it into affect. Jameis is already in great shape while taking pointers from Michael Jordan's former personal trainer. He is taking his career serious and realizing that this game is his job.
