Will Jameis Make A Giant Leap In Year 2?

Jameis Winston had a pretty good rookie season in which he threw for over 4000 yards and accounted for 28 touchdowns. He became the leader of the team very quickly and led the Bucs offense to its best statistical ranking in franchise history. While all of that is great, there is still room for improvement as Jameis needs to work on his consistency with his footwork and throwing mechanics. I expect Jameis to improve in those areas because of Dirk Koetter and Mike Bajakian are great with qbs, but will Jameis make a giant leap in his play for year 2?

The answer is easy, Jameis will make a giant leap because most quaterbacks tend to make a jump in year 2. Just look at the 2014 quaterback draft class, Blake Bortles, and Derek Carr both took giant steps foward in 2015. Blake Bortles took a major step forward as he threw for 35 tds and 18ints and double his yardage with over 4,400 yards leading to a 88.5 qb rating. Bortles looked like a whole new quaterback in 2015, and showed why he was a top ten draft pick. Same thing with Derek Carr as he threw for over 3900 yards and 32 tds, improving from 21 tds the year before. Carr got a new weapon in Amari Cooper, and just looked way more comfortable as a qb putting up a 91.1 qb rating.

I can see the same jump for Jameis in year 2, as he will be more comfortable in the offense plus he has a whole off-season to improve his craft as a quarterback. I could see Jameis throw for less yards in 2016 but increase in tds and completion percentage which would lead to more wins for the team. This occur for Peyton Manning in year 2 as he threw for less yards but improved td to int ratio leading to more wins and better overall qb play. Jameis needs to do this and I think he will as history is on his side. Plus Gerald Mccoy thinks Jameis has MVP awards in his sights: Here is what he said on his instagram post:
"He didnt win AP rookie of the year this year but next year he will win MVP next year! Its gonna happen, calling it right now!"
