Bucs Start Minicamp Today

With the Bucs heading into the 2016 season with a new head coach in Dirk Koetter, the Bucs get an extra minicamp which starts today at One Buc place. It is voluntary, but I would expect most if not all the players to be in attendance due to the fact there is a new coach in place. Today will be filled with positional drills and working on the fundamentals to ease the players back into rhythm. Koetter and his staff will set the standard for practice by demanding high tempo and attention to details which was common when he was the OC last year.

The push towards the playoffs starts with today as these practices are key for the team in developing that on-field chemistry and for coaches to see where players are at currently. It will be interesting to see what changes the defensive staff brings to the practice field led by new DC Mike Smith. I expect high tempo and great attention to detail similar to Koetter, and a high emphasis on proper technique across every defensive position. Expect this defensive staff to challenge the players mentally as in the past this has been a mentally weak team which has led to a high number in yellow flags on the field. Mike Smith's goal is to eliminate that and to get this unit to play smarter football. Also will we see multiple defensive looks during this minicamp which Mike Smith said would be apart of this team's defensive scheme. This is going to be a fun week for Bucs fans as we have minicamp and the Draft in 48 hours.
