Prospect Watch: Bronson Kaufusi

This upcoming draft has tons of good value all the way into day 3 which great news for every team. Here at realbucstalk, we have mention guys like Javon Hargrave, Alex McCalister, Shilique Calhoun, Sheldon Day, and sleepers like Ryan Smith and Mike Thomas all whom could be solid late day 2 picks and mid day 3 picks respectively. One intriguing prospect that is rising up draft boards is BYU defensive end Bronson Kaufusi who had 26.5 sacks in his college career and has great size at 6'6 285lbs with 34.5 inch arms.

Kaufusi is a maximum effort type player, showing good pad level with forward lean going into his pass rush. He never quits on the play and will pursue down field if he has to, showing good athleticism for a player his size. Kaufusi was two sport athlete playing basketball in 2012-2013 before turning his full attention to football, and so far it looks like it was the right decision. Kaufusi just needs work on his playing strength and overall bend when he is rushing the passer, both can be fixed with hard work and the proper coaching.

Kaufusi could be a good match for the Bucs as they are in need of a pass rusher, and defensive line coach Jay Hayes has had success with bigger defensive ends. Kaufusi has the short area quickness teams look for as he ran 7.03 in the 3 cone and a 4.25 in the 20yrd shuttle which are great numbers for a player his size. Kaufusi could be a potential target for the Bucs during day 2, as the Bucs would be getting a player that will work relentlessly, and can provide position versatility as well as get to the Qb. Watch 90 below, great hustle play.
