Who is Alan Cross?

Number 45 who nobody knows about has made the 53 man roster. That man is undrafted free agent Alan Cross from the University of Memphis. Cross has earned everything he has gotten up to this point as he was a walk on at Memphis and ended up compiling the most touchdowns for a tight end in Memphis football history with 14.

He sure won't ever be thought of as the biggest or fastest player on the team as he's only 6'1 and 235 and has average written all over him, but obviously he has something that helped him make the team that didn't have the talented Danny Vitale make it. What Cross has is hard-nosed football smarts and the will to put it all on the line. Going back looking at tape you can see he may not always have made a big block or huge catch but he did just enough to get the job done. Many times when he was the lead blocker for one of the tailbacks he would make just enough push or shove to sprout a lane. He's nothing special but it seems like he's always doing the right thing.

Another reason he most likely made the final 53 is based on being able to play multiple positions. At Memphis he was used mainly as a blocking tight end/ fullback. They have him labeled a TE but he is one of only 2 guys (Stocker) that can play fullback right now. Cross shouldn't be confused as a big receiving tight end as he never recorded more that 28 catches in any one season in college.

Cross is on the roster as of now but as we have stated before the roster is fluid and I'm sure there are players Licht is looking at on other rosters now.
