Glennon is Staying Put

A few years back, there was discussion of Mike Glennon being the future for the Bucs at the quarterback position as he was showing flashes of potential. However, the Bucs went on to draft FSU Qb Jameis Winston who has now become the face of the franchise and team leader. Since then Bucs fans and certain media have been wanting the team to trade Mike Glennon for some kind of value. It has not happened and rightfully so as Glennon is an average starting Qb at best. Glennon needs certain things in place for him to be successful especially a strong O-line as he is a statue back there in the pocket.

Unlike Jameis who can elevate the play around him, Glennon needs great talent around him to be successful. This is why teams are not going to overpay for him and is why the Bucs haven't got the value they are asking for. Plus Glennon is a solid backup Qb as he can be solid for a few games as a spot starter if necessary similar to Josh McCown. Another thing people don't realize about Glennon is he does a great job helping Jameis in preparation every week, just going over game tape and making sure Jameis is not missing anything. So with that being said I don't see Glennon going anywhere for the time being. He will either re-sign next off-season or get an opportunity elsewhere as a backup or potential starter if in the right situation.

  1. It seems like people forgot that glennon came in his rookie season and started braking bucs rookie records. He did this with with bad coaches and a QB named freeman in front of him, not to mention only 1 receiver no running game an aging o-line and a rookie TE that was converted from a WR. Mark my words glennon with be a starter next year he won't be a HOFER but will be a Brad Johnson type starter.

    1. Very possible Josh. Good points and I agree. I think Glennon can be a decent starter if he has the right system and a solid O-line. But in the end I think he signs back just my opinion.
