Bucs Looking to Make the Right Move

Last year the Bucs played it safe in free agency avoiding the big names after they had failed in 2014 with their free agent signings. The Bucs have failed when it has come to adding the big names like Anthony Collins and Michael Johnson. Interesting enough the big impact signings for the Bucs the past two years have come in August with the likes of Jacquies Smith, Joe Hawley, Godser Cherilus, and Howard Jones. They are not big names but have had solid impact for this team, and lets hope the Bucs can keep finding more players like them.

Now with this years free agency getting ready to start, it will be interesting to see what approach the Bucs decide to take. As I have mention in previous posts, I expect the Bucs to go after certain big name guys but also be selective like they were last year. The key is for the Bucs to find impact players in free agency which hasn't been the case the past two years. Jason Licht has a plan and knows the team needs to improve in certain areas, and will look to add the right player for the team. Per tbo.com, Licht will be aggressive if the right player is there.
“If the right guy is there, of course we’re going to jump in on that,’’ Licht said recently. “But we want to be strategic and selective. We want to make sure we’re bringing the right guy in and not just spending money to spend money.’’
Licht is right, as the Bucs want to be smart with their money, and they could look to attack the middle market again like they did last year. I still see the Bucs going after a veteran pass rusher like Mario Williams or recently released Charles Johnson, who is scheduled to meet with the Bucs sometime this week. Also I expect the Bucs to explore the secondary market as it has some quality players and has the kind of value the Bucs will be looking for. So will the Bucs make a splash move this week? Not sure, lets just hope the Bucs can make the right move. Signing Doug Martin back would be a good start.
