When Dirk Koetter was named head coach, he demanded one thing from GM Jason Licht and that was sign back RB Doug Martin, who was key to Koetter's offense. Dirk is a fan of Martin, as that was evident after his press conference that day, telling the media that Doug should return. Here is the quote per pewterreport.com.
“Tell Jason Licht that I want Doug Martin!” Koetter said smiling. “Tell Jason. I’m putting my name on that. I want Doug Martin to be a Buc, so you tell him.”
“Who wouldn’t want Doug Martin back?” Koetter added. “He’s a terrific football player, so of course we would like to have him back. Jason’s got control of that and I think he wants Doug back, too, but you guys have to get him on that one. But I’m pretty sure he does."Well today Jason Licht granted coach Koetter's wish bringing back Martin for 5 more years, and keeping the core on offense together. Koetter was all smiles today as he was very happy to have his star running back returning for next season. He went on to say that Doug deserves this and he has earned it. The Bucs coach is confident that Martin will be even better in 2016, and according to Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com, Koetter could be right.

Martin is a perfect fit for Koetter's offense, and the Bucs did the right move by bringing him back.
