Free Agency Frenzy: Offensive Line

With free agency only 5 days away, I want to continue our free agency frenzy series in which we identifiy 5 potential free agents that best fit the Bucs.  So far we have done the running backs and receivers position. Today lets take a look at potential free agent targets for the offensive line which was one of the Bucs strengths last year.  Here are my top five that the Bucs should consider.

1. Ben Jones, 26  Center  6'3 308lbs

Jones has been one of the better centers in the league for the Houston Texans. He has been a day one starter and has 43 starts already during his 5 seasons. Jones originally played guard his first four seasons before moving over to center, and played really well. Bucs should take a look at Jones, who can come in and start right way, and bring valuable depth if nothing else.

2. Ted Larsen, 28  Center/Guard 6'2 305lbs

Larsen who played his first four years with the Bucs, could be a solid signing for the team. He has been a quality starter for the Cardinals in his two seasons there. Larsen has versatility in which he can play guard or center. With Logan Mankins likely to retire, bringing in a guy like Larsen to compete with Kevin Pamphile or Joe Hawley would be wise. Again much like Ben Jones, Larsen could bring valuable depth to the line.

3. Ronald Leary, 26  Guard 6'3 320lbs

Leary is a road grater type, plays physical and can be a force in the run game. Leary has 35 starts for the Cowboys and was consistent starter in 2013 and 2014. Last year, he struggled with minor injuries and was replaced by La'el Collins who went on to have a great rookie season. Leary would bring competition at left guard and push Kevin Pamphile.

4.  Chris Chester, 33 Guard  6'3 303lbs

Chester is a season veteran much like Mankins, and could be a solid addition for the young guys like Ali Marpet, Kevin Pamphile, and Donovan Smith.  Chester would be guy who could start at either guard spot and push the young guys.

5. Ryan Wendell. 30 Guard/Center 6'2 300lbs

Wendell is similar to Larsen and Chester, where he has game experience and has winning experience being with the Patriots his whole career. Wendell would be a valuable pick up for a team that is learning how to win.

The Bucs would be wise to add any of these five lineman. Competition is always a good thing.
